Robert Hunink

ATIBT President

"As the president of the ATIBT, I would like to thank the Emirates authorities for hosting the Forum ATIBT. We are especially pleased, because we know of their commitment to the environment and to the fight against global warming. This commitment is an opportunity to build a more sustainable and future-oriented world. It is also a great honour that his Excellency Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoud will participate in this international key event. An event which since 1982 has been organized annually in major cities around the world.

Over the years ATIBT has gained considerable expertise with project management and/or project support when it comes to forest dynamics, assisting concessionaires with certification, linked with the European regulation, the promotion of tropical timber etc. Dubai, a strategic business location in the Middle East and acting as a gateway for the region, is an essential platform for the timber trade and has a key role to play in the development and promotion of the use of certified timber.

The forthcoming Forum, organised in conjunction with the Dubai Woodshow, is another key event for the timber industry. It will be a great occasion for us all to meet and to debate the very issues that affect our industry today, or in the future. I am sure you will take advantage of it."
